High Plains Winter
Try to imagine that one of these cabins is home. There are graphic descriptions of just how warm these shelters were during the severe winters this town suffered. Being so close to the top of the mountain, the cold must have been incredible with the wind blowing through the chinks between the logs.  I’ve seen pictures of Garnet ( http://www.garnetghosttown.net/ ) in winter, with three feet of snow on the roofs of the cabins and only the rooflines visible above the drifts.
